October Championships!

ChampionshipsCardosoComment

What an amazing month PetiteLion Kennels had when we went to the Sasolburg Kennel & Century Terrier Club Championships!!

It was bitterly cold in the early morning when we arrived in the Free State, but thankfully it warmed up to be a very pleasant day for all. Firstly, we have to thank our judges Capt. RJ Du Plooy, Mrs JM Heneke and Mr Peter Nancarrow who - with great patience and fortitude - judged our dogs. We learnt so much from the judges; they really just want to help you get the best out of your dogs, so their advice is really appreciated.

We also want to thank Marozelle Botha who so gracefully put Winning Wicket through his paces in the Junior Handler ring and came a hard-earned third.  It's never easy walking a dog you only get to see every couple of months.  Thank you!! So without further ado, here are the results (drumroll please):

PetiteLion Kennels decided to end off with a bang and we entered our dogs into the FCI & TKC weekend at Goldfields in Johannesburg.  What a load of fun (and drama) we had. We had International judges, Leyda Perez of Columbia, Pauline Suhr from Australia and we had Marion Gregg, Roy Gregg and Eddie Patterson from one of our favourite places in the world - Ireland.  And of course our ownInternational All Breeds Dog judge Patricia de Coning of Sunny South Africa who so freely advised & assisted all of us around the toy ring - Thank you.

It was such an honour to be judged by such experienced and friendly judges.  They made our three day stay enjoyable and all worth the while.

What we enjoyed the most was the interaction with the judges over the whole weekend.  The judges critiqued our dogs and were willing tochat to you afterwards as to how to improve on your dogs or the handler's ring behaviour.  This is something that we found extremely informative.  We met lovely dog owners that travelled from Durban to compete in the Toy group, congratulations on their wins and we hope to see you again!! We look forward to the next show!
